What do synchronous and asynchronous mean?
Synchronous describes a class with the instructor teaching live as students attend class. Asynchronous typically describes a self-paced class with recorded videos from an instructor instead of a live instructor. In both cases the instructor will still be available by email and have office hours if a student needs to speak with them. In the schedule of classes they are both used to categorize fully remote (online) classes.
