How much time does a class take?
Most UMA classes are 3 credit classes and meet for 3 hours in a week.1 credit hour = 1 hour of class time per week.
In addition to time spent in class, for each hour of class time you can expect approximately 2 hours of study time per week. Therefore: 3 credit hours = 3 hours in class and 6 hours of study time for a total of 9 hours per week. For online classes, there may be more flexibility for when you complete your work (morning, evening, etc.), but the basic workload is the same. Expect to spend 6-12 hours a week for each 3 credit online class.
