Is a criminal background check required for the Dental Assisting program?

Response from Lauren Weinbrown:

All students enrolled in the dental assisting program are required to undergo a background check at their own expense prior to the clinical semester. Students will be required to provide this to the clinical rotation site at their request. Clinical rotation sites have the right to refuse a student based on the information in a background check. If a student is rejected from a site or sites, they may not be able to fulfill the clinical component of the dental assisting program required for graduation. It should also be noted that background checks are required by the Maine Board of Dental Examiners when applying for dental radiology licensure.
